One Day Training cum Consultation Programme on
“Innovative Construction Technologies & Thermal Comfort for Affordable Housing"


The first “One Day Training cum Consultation Programme on “Innovative Construction Technologies & Thermal Comfort for Affordable Housing” was held on 1st September 2023 in Chandigarh. The event was organized by the MoHUA, BMTPC and GIZ.

The aim of the program was to empower and engage senior government officials, policymakers, professionals in the built-environment sector, and stakeholders from relevant government departments. The focus was on exploring Innovative Construction Technologies, both globally and domestically, to expedite and streamline the construction of affordable housing. Additionally, the goal was undertake consultation on the Passive-Design Response in Increasing Thermal Comfort with Viable Solution guidelines which is developed from the learnings from LHPs to achieve thermally comfortable, resilient, and cost-effective homes.

The program was inaugurated by Shri, M. P. Singh, Director, PEDA. He was followed by Dr. Shailesh Kr. Agarwal, Executive Director, BMTPC, who talked about Emerging construction technologies for mass housing. Nitin Jain, Program Head, CSB, GIZ, talked about the different work CSB is doing. Govinda Somani, Energy Advisor, CSB, GIZ, gave Introduction to Passive-Design Response in Increasing Thermal Comfort with Viable Solution guidelines. Technology providers of Light House Projects (LHP) talked about the technology used at LHPs. The event concluded with a session on climate responsive buildings and thermal comfort in buildings by Dr. Jyotirmay Mathur and Dr. Jit Kumar Gupta.”
